Mayor of Reading’s Charities

Councillor Alice Mpofu-Coles has been elected as Mayor of Reading, and will now serve as Mayor until May 2026. The Mayor’s chosen charities for the year are:

Faith Christian Group
The charity behind Readifood and Reading Pantries, Faith Christian Group, has been working since 1996 to alleviate poverty and support individuals who are poor, vulnerable, or homeless.
Their work includes:
- Readifood
- Readistreet
- Reading Pantries
- Winter Night Shelters



Utulivu Women’s Group (UWG)
Established in 2004, UWG helps empower BAME and Refugee women, enabling them to shape brighter futures for themselves and their families by strengthening their confidence and supporting them to take control of their lives.

Their work includes:
- Training programmes
- Holistic community based support
- Community Wellbeing Hub,
- Online “Let’s Talk: Health and Wellbeing” sessions
